Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra marked the beginning of the new academic year for the Digital Literacy Project at Aided Primary and Secondary Ashram School, Molgi, Taluka Akkalkuwa, with a special inauguration programme held on the school premises. The programme was inaugurated by Principal Rahul Patil Sir of Molgi Ashram School, in the presence of school staff, students and the BGVK team.
The Digital Literacy Project aims to make technology-based learning more accessible to children from rural and tribal communities. In many remote areas, children have limited opportunities to use computers or understand digital tools in a practical way. Through this project, BGVK works to bridge this gap by creating learning spaces where students can develop basic computer knowledge, confidence and curiosity.
During the inauguration, students were introduced to the computer lab and learning materials designed to support their digital education. The sessions focused on helping children understand the basic parts of a computer, the uses of technology in daily life, and simple applications such as Word, PowerPoint and Excel. The atmosphere was filled with enthusiasm as students actively participated, observed demonstrations and explored the digital learning environment.
The project is not limited to computer handling alone. It also encourages students to see technology as a tool for learning, communication and future opportunities. By engaging with digital concepts at an early stage, children are able to build confidence and reduce the fear often associated with computers and new technology. For many students, such exposure opens a new window to the world beyond their immediate surroundings.
Speaking on the occasion, the school representatives appreciated the initiative and highlighted the importance of digital skills in today’s education system. The presence and encouragement of the school leadership added meaning to the programme and motivated the students to make full use of the opportunity.
BGVK believes that digital literacy is an important step towards inclusive education. When children in rural and tribal regions receive access to technology, they are better equipped to learn, participate and grow with confidence. The Digital Literacy Project continues to strengthen this vision by supporting young learners with practical skills and exposure to modern learning tools.
Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra is grateful to Don Bosco Mondo and Seven Islands Shipping for their valuable support in making this initiative possible. Together, we continue to empower young minds through digital learning, opportunity and hope.
