Ahilyanagar – May 2025 - Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), under the ‘Healthy Ageing’ initiative supported by the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS), organized a dedicated awareness session in Nepti village, Ahmednagar district. This interactive session aimed to educate senior citizens and community members about Parkinson’s Disease, other movement disorders, and the importance of early detection and care.
During the session, participants were introduced to the symptoms, causes, and management techniques related to Parkinson’s and neurological conditions. Special emphasis was placed on the role of networking and social support, highlighting how regular interaction and emotional connection within the community can positively impact mental health and slow the progression of such disorders.
Additionally, the session included a practical segment on physical exercises, tailored for elderly participants. These exercises are essential in maintaining mobility, balance, and overall well-being. Attendees actively participated and appreciated the easy-to-follow demonstrations, which they could incorporate into their daily routine.
The session received an enthusiastic response, with participants expressing gratitude for the knowledge shared and requesting more such programs in the future. This initiative reinforces BGVK’s ongoing commitment to promoting healthy ageing and supporting vulnerable communities through awareness, engagement and compassionate care.
