Ahmednagar: Nearly 850 women from the project villages attended the International Womens Day celebration, organised by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), at the sprawling Sudarshan Lawns on March 19. The day-long event was  filled with fun, food and entertainment.

The BGVK team, headed by Father George D’Abreo (Director – BGVK) ensured that the women from the all-project villages had a wonderful time but also enriching time with one another during the day. He thanked all the women for their tireless work towards their families and the society at large. The Chief Guest for the day was Fr George D’Abreo (Director BGVK) and the guests of honour were Mrs. Mahananda Landage  and Mrs. Alka Berad. 

After the sumptuous lunch for all, there was a cultural programme put up by women themselves. This was truly the highlight of the day because apart from dances and songs; the women brought forth meaningful messages like save a girl child and gender equality etc. through the skits. 

The day ended with a small surprise gift for all the women who participated in the event. This whole event was sponsored by Manos Unidas as a part of the women empowerment project. The women were greatful to the BGVK for their role in their lives.
