Ahmednagar - 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) successfully organized vibrant Health Awareness Programmes using the traditional medium of Kala Pathak (street play) in the villages of Mirgaon and Adraki Khurd, located in the Phaltan block of Satara District. These programs were conducted under the Rural Health and Nutrition Project, generously supported by the Cummins India Foundation. A total of 352 community members actively participated, making the initiative both impactful and well-received.
By leveraging the power of folk art and cultural expression, the Kala Pathak performances served as a dynamic and engaging medium for educating the public on crucial health-related issues. This culturally resonant approach helped simplify complex topics and made vital information more accessible and memorable for rural audiences.
The event began with a warm welcome and introductory address by Mr. Abba Katkar, BGVK staff member, who shared valuable insights into the objectives and ongoing activities of the Health and Nutrition Project. The Kala Pathak team then took the stage, captivating the audience with informative performances on various themes, including the ICDS Scheme, Mid-Day Meal Programme, Poshan Saptah (Nutrition Week), Vaccination, Janani Suraksha Yojana, and the importance of nutritious food and preventive healthcare.
Participants appreciated the interactive and culturally relevant format of the programme, expressing gratitude for the initiative’s role in increasing awareness and promoting better health practices. This innovative blend of tradition and public health advocacy has once again demonstrated its power to inspire positive change and strengthen community well-being.
