Ahmednagar – August 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), Ahmednagar, organized a three-day training on ‘Quilt Making’ for women from Dharashiv, Solapur, Satara, Sangli, and Ahmednagar districts. This training program was conducted under the aegis of the ‘Micro Enterprise Collectives Project,’ supported by Tata Power Community Development Trust, Mumbai.

The women received training at various locations, including Akkalkot, Omarga, Jath, Palasawade, and Ahmednagar. The training focused on quilt stitching, wall art and various techniques like colour matching, finishing and crafting different types of quilts, including double, single and baby quilts. Participants also learned essential business skills such as marketing, costing, budgeting, pricing and branding of their products.

During the program, a cultural event called the Shravanswar was organized, where a group of girls performed traditional folk dances and sang songs, adding a vibrant touch to the event. The performance was well-received and added a cultural dimension to the training.

Post-training, the women have begun receiving orders for the traditional items they learned to make, demonstrating the immediate impact and success of the initiative.
