Ahmednagar – 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) in collaboration with Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT), Mumbai conducted a vibrant and impactful awareness programme on dryland farming techniques at Ratadgaon village in Ahmednagar district, using the traditional and culturally engaging medium of Kala Pathak (street play). This initiative, aimed at educating local farmers on sustainable agriculture suited to drought-prone regions, effectively blended folk art with vital knowledge-sharing.
Through captivating performances, the Kala Pathak team creatively communicated essential techniques such as soil moisture conservation, appropriate crop selection, mulching, rainwater harvesting, and organic composting. By transforming technical concepts into relatable, story-based narratives, the programme succeeded in engaging the rural audience while making the subject matter easy to grasp and remember.
The event not only entertained but also equipped farmers with practical, climate-resilient farming strategies, encouraging a shift toward sustainable agricultural practices. Many community members expressed enthusiasm for applying the newly learned methods in their own fields.
This initiative reflects BGVK’s ongoing commitment to empowering rural communities through innovative, culturally rooted outreach—strengthening knowledge, resilience, and the path toward a sustainable rural economy. The villagers were very grateful to TPCDT for this initiative.
