315 BBGVK Hosts Training for Onion Farmers on Onion Cultivation Technology and Manure Management in Ahmednagar District
Ahmednagar: October 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) recently organized a training program on onion crop cultivation and organic manure management in Ahmednagar. A total of 76 onion farmers from Ahmednagar, Shrigonda, and Parner blocks participated. The primary objective was to equip farmers with enhanced techniques for cultivating onions in their fields.
Mr. Sandip Berad welcomed the participants and introduced the resource persons for the day, Dr. Adinath Takte and Dr. Sukhdev Ransing from Rahuri Krishi Vidyapith. The experts provided valuable insights into crop maintenance, planning, and management practices necessary for a successful onion harvest.
Dr. Sukhdev Ransing discussed the differences between organic and chemical farming, stressing the importance of using organic manure. He recommended organic fertilizers such as cow dung and vermicompost. Dr. Adinath Takte addressed topics including soil testing, soil health, soil treatment, onion crop cultivation, harvesting, and overall management.
Mr. Sandip Berad expressed gratitude to all participants. Mr. Gaikwad, one of the farmers, shared, “The program was very fruitful, and we plan to apply this knowledge in the field. We hope such training sessions are held again.”
