298 Farmers from Jawhar and Mokhada visited to the Mathani – Balewadi village for a learning exchange program.

Ahmednagar – October 2024: The farmers from Jawhar and Mokhada visited Mathani-Balewadi village as part of a learning exchange, with a total of 43 farmers participating in the program. The primary objective was to observe and gather information about watershed structures and water budgeting. Mr. Dattatray Gaikwad served as the main resource person for the session. He provided detailed insights into watershed management and facilitated discussions with the local watershed committee, emphasizing the significance of their work.

Additionally, the program featured practical demonstrations of various water conservation techniques, such as contour bunding, farm ponds, and check dams, which have been successfully implemented in Mathani-Balewadi. The visiting farmers also explored sustainable farming practices that complement watershed management, including crop rotation, organic farming and soil conservation methods.

The exchange fostered a collaborative environment, allowing farmers from different regions to share their experiences and challenges. The participants expressed their appreciation for the hands-on learning and the valuable insights gained, which they planned to implement in their own communities for improved water and land management.
