Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH) are essential to building healthy and resilient communities. Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), with the generous support of the Atos Prayas Foundation, organized WASH awareness sessions across four schools in the Shrigonda Block—Bhoyre Gangarda, Pimpalner, Pimpri Kolander, and Raigawhan. The program recognized the powerful role schools play in spreading awareness beyond classrooms and into families and communities.
The sessions focused on handwashing techniques, safe toilet use, food hygiene, and the prevention of waterborne diseases. Information was presented in age-appropriate, interactive ways to help students understand both the practices and the science behind them.
Improved WASH facilities in schools reinforced these lessons, allowing students to put their learning into practice through daily habits. Teachers who participated in the program became ongoing sources of WASH education, while students shared what they learned with their families. The positive changes in schools inspired nearby communities to invest in better sanitation and hygiene facilities.
Through this initiative, BGVK helped strengthen long-term hygiene behaviors, contributing to improved health, reduced disease, and better learning outcomes for children in the Shrigonda Block.
