Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), with support from the Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT), successfully distributed 200 goats to women members of Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across various TPCDT project sites such as Akkalkot, Tuljapur, Dharashiv, Nashik and Partur. As part of the initiative to promote sustainable livelihoods among rural women.
This initiative was not just a distribution program, but a step towards economic empowerment and self-reliance for women in rural communities. Goat rearing offers a reliable source of income through milk production, manure, and future offspring, making it a valuable asset for families with limited means.
To ensure the long-term security of this livelihood support, insurance coverage was obtained for each goat, safeguarding the women beneficiaries against unforeseen losses due to illness, accidents, or natural calamities. This crucial step reflects BGVK’s commitment to sustainable development with risk mitigation measures, ensuring that the efforts made today continue to benefit the community tomorrow.
This intervention strengthens the financial stability of rural women but also encourages entrepreneurial spirit and confidence, contributing to a more resilient and empowered rural society.
