236 PDMDS session at Newasa block, Ahmednagar district

Ahmednagar- July 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) and the Parkinson's Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS) organized a special event for senior citizens in Newasa, Ahmednagar district. The event was part of their 'Healthy Aging' project.

Healthy aging means staying healthy, active, and independent as you grow older. The goal is to help older people live fulfilling lives.

The main objective of this workshop was to raise awareness about Parkinson's disease and other neurological disorders and to improve the quality of life, independence, and overall health of older adults.

The Healthy Aging program covers topics like exercise, healthy eating, brain health, social activities, and preventive healthcare.

Mrs. Archana welcomed everyone and explained the event's purpose. Mrs. Bhavana Ghatvisave from BGVK then informed the seniors about art therapy, yoga, physiotherapy, counselling, dance therapy, speech therapy, nutrition, and other health topics.

The seniors asked many questions, which Mrs. Bhavana answered. The senior citizens thanked BGVK for the event and requested monthly sessions.

By working together, BGVK and PDMDS share important information and interact with the community. Their aim is to promote healthy aging among seniors in villages in the Ahmednagar district.
