278 Distribution of Weighing Machine to the villages of the Satara and Ahmednagar district

Ahmednagar – September 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) distributed weighing machines in project villages across Ahmednagar and Satara districts. This initiative was conducted as part of the 'Rural Health and Nutrition' project, generously supported by the Cummins India Foundation, aimed at improving the health and nutritional status of children in these rural areas.

The weighing machines were provided to the Community Health Workers (CHWs) to regularly monitor the weight of children, helping track their growth and development. The weight data was systematically recorded and analysed, allowing for early identification of malnutrition. Based on this analysis, the children were categorized into three groups: Severely Acute Malnourished (SAM), Moderately Acute Malnourished (MAM), and Normal, which enabled targeted interventions for those at risk. Regular follow-ups were conducted to ensure the children received proper nutrition and care.

The community expressed their gratitude to Cummins India Foundation and Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra for their continued support and guidance in addressing the pressing issue of child malnutrition. This initiative has empowered local health workers and strengthened the overall health infrastructure in these villages, making a lasting impact on the well-being of the children.
