Ahmednagar, January 2024 - The Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized an awareness program about Gram Sabha in Sandava village, Ahmednagar district. The program was conducted under the 'Jeevan Empowering Animation' project, which is financially supported by CARITAS INDIA.

A total of 42 women participated in this informative session. The training covered key topics such as "How to organize a Gram Sabha", "What is a Ward Sabha", and "Procedures for filing applications and addressing them to the authorities."

The impact of this intervention was evident as women in the village attended the Gram Sabha meetings in large numbers afterwards. During these local governance gatherings, the women discussed various issues about the development of their village. Notably, the women asserted the need for a dedicated Women's Gram Sabha to be held soon, ensuring their voices are heard on matters affecting the community.

This initiative by BGVK is a testament to the organization's commitment to fostering grassroots democracy and enabling women's participation in local decision-making processes. By equipping the villagers, especially women, with knowledge about Gram Sabha procedures, the program has succeeded in amplifying their agency and promoting inclusive development in the region
