Ahmednagar - 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized a focused health awareness session for adolescent girls in Bhoyare Gangarde village, Ahmednagar, under the Rural Health and Nutrition Project supported by Cummins India Foundation. The session saw active participation from 48 adolescent girls, eager to learn about their health and well-being.
The program began with a welcome address by project coordinator Mr. Vilas Alhat, who introduced the session's objectives and warmly welcomed the resource person, Mrs. Anita Sonawane. The primary goal of the session was to educate adolescent girls on essential topics such as personal hygiene, menstrual health, balanced diet, nutrition, and the physical and psychological changes experienced during adolescence.
Mrs. Sonawane offered valuable insights into reproductive health, contraceptive methods, and the prevention of sexually transmitted infections. She also addressed sensitive yet critical issues like sexual abuse and substance abuse, creating a safe and informative space for the participants to engage and learn.
This awareness initiative aimed to empower the girls of Bhoyare Gangarde with the knowledge and confidence to make informed decisions about their health. By fostering awareness at an early stage, BGVK continues to strengthen its mission of holistic development and empowerment of rural women and girls.
Encouraged by the positive response, BGVK plans to conduct similar educational sessions across other rural areas of Ahmednagar, ensuring that more adolescent girls are equipped with the tools and awareness they need for a healthier future.
