319 Distribution of 21-Day-Old Poultry Chicks to SHG Women in Ahmednagar District

Ahmednagar: October 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) recently conducted a poultry distribution program as part of the ‘Empowering Rural Women through Sustainable Animal Husbandry Initiatives’ initiative, supported by Tata Power Community Development Trust, Mumbai. Over the course of 21 days, a total of 200 poultry chicks were distributed to women from Self-Help Groups (SHGs) across several villages, including Shahajapur, PimpalgaonKauda, Ranjani, Deogoan, Mathani-Balewadi, Agadgaon, and Mehekari. The initiative aimed to enhance the income and self-sufficiency of rural women by promoting poultry farming as a sustainable livelihood option. This program aligns with BGVK's broader objectives to empower communities and foster economic development in rural areas.

Additional details of the program include training sessions for the SHG women on poultry care, management, and the potential benefits of poultry farming. BGVK plans to provide continued support and guidance to ensure the successful implementation of this livelihood model. The partnership with Tata Power Community Development Trust further strengthens the organization's efforts in transforming rural economies through skill development and sustainable agricultural practices.

The women were grateful to Tata Power Community Development Trust, Mumbai and Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra for their support.
