Farmers from Mehekari village came together for a training programme on the preparation and use of natural fertilizers, promoting sustainable agricultural practices that are both environmentally friendly and cost-effective.
The session focused on helping farmers understand how locally available resources can be used to prepare natural fertilizers that improve soil health, reduce dependency on chemical inputs, and support long-term agricultural productivity. Participants discussed practical methods, exchanged experiences, and explored ways to adopt these practices in their own fields.
Natural farming approaches not only help maintain soil fertility but also contribute to resilient farming systems that are better suited to changing climatic conditions. By encouraging the use of sustainable inputs, the training aimed to strengthen farmers’ knowledge and confidence in adopting eco-friendly agricultural practices.
The activity was conducted under the project “Holistic Rural Development through Sustainable Agriculture, Women-Led Livelihoods, and Credit Access via Joint Liability Groups”, supported by Manos Unidas and implemented by Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra, Kedgaon, Ahilyanagar.
Through such initiatives, the project continues to promote sustainable agriculture while strengthening livelihoods and community resilience in rural Maharashtra.
