274 Visitation of Fr. Savio Silvera (Salesian Province of Mumbai) to BGVK
Ahmednagar – September 2024: Fr. Savio Silvera (Salesian Province of Mumbai) visited Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), Ahmednagar, to review the ongoing initiatives aimed at empowering local communities. During the visit, they observed the remedial classes, where children from marginalized communities receive additional educational support, and interacted with the students, encouraging them to continue their studies. They also inspected the watershed structures developed by BGVK under its water conservation and management program, which aims to improve water availability in drought-prone regions. Then, Fr. Provincial met with beneficiary farmers, listening to their experiences and gaining a clear understanding of how the initiatives have positively impacted agricultural productivity and livelihoods in the region.
After the field visit, a meeting was held with the project staff, where the BGVK team extended a warm welcome to Fr. Provincial. He expressed his deep appreciation for the staff's dedication and hard work, highlighting the transformative effect their efforts have had on the community. He also shared the inspiring story of Saint Don Bosco, emphasizing the importance of continuing to serve the poor and needy with compassion and commitment.
Mr. Sandip Berad, a BGVK staff member, offered a heartfelt vote of thanks to Fr. Provincial, the Fathers, Sisters, and the entire staff. He acknowledged the guidance and support provided by the leadership and expressed gratitude for their visit, which motivated the staff to continue their work with renewed energy and purpose.
