132 Health Education for Adolescent Girls from a Village in Ahmednagar

Ahmednagar, 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized a health awareness session for adolescent girls in Takali Kazi village, Ahmednagar. This session was part of the 'Holistic Empowerment for SHG Women' project supported by Manos Unidas. A total of 53 adolescent girls participated.

The coordinator, Mr. Sandip Berad, welcomed the participants and the resource person, Mrs. Suvarna Thorat. The main objective was to educate adolescent girls about personal health, hygiene, menstrual cycles, diet, and nutrition.

Mrs. Thorat spoke about physical and psychological changes during adolescence. She explained reproductive health risks, contraceptives, and sexually transmitted diseases. Important topics like sexual abuse and substance abuse were also covered.

After the talk, the girls asked questions, which Mrs. Thorat answered. Snacks were served at the end.

This health awareness program aimed to empower adolescent girls in Takali Kazi with crucial knowledge. By understanding their bodies and health needs better, these adolescents can make informed choices.

BGVK's initiative aligns with their mission of holistic empowerment for women. More such educational sessions are planned to benefit adolescent girls across Ahmednagar's rural areas.
