058 Training on Climate Change Programme –Holistic Empowerment Project
Ahmednagar 2023: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) is actively implementing the 'Holistic Empowerment for SHG Women Project' across villages in the Ahmednagar and Beed districts, covering 25 villages supported by Manos Unidas. The project addresses the challenges posed by climate change, emphasizes water budgeting and management awareness, advocates for soil health maintenance, and promotes the use of organic fertilizers and pesticides (such as vermicompost, BD compost, Jivamrut, organic pesticides, insecticides). Additionally, it encourages the establishment of organic culture banks in each village, imparts training in good agricultural practices, including altering cropping patterns and adopting less water-intensive crops, and raises awareness about government entitlements.
BGVK, in collaboration with agronomists, Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA), and other experts, has been conducting awareness and training programs in all the villages, incorporating practical demonstrations. These sessions aim to increase awareness about reducing agricultural production costs while simultaneously enhancing soil fertility to boost agricultural output. Farmers have greatly benefited from the various initiatives of this project and extend heartfelt thanks to Manos Unidas and BGVK for their intervention in making farming more sustainable.
