Ahmednagar – 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) in collaboration with Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT) organized an engaging awareness programme on dryland farming techniques through the traditional medium of Kala Pathak (street play) in Sonewadi village, Ahmednagar district. This innovative initiative was designed to educate local farmers on sustainable agricultural practices specifically suited for drought-prone regions, using a culturally resonant and highly accessible format.
The Kala Pathak performance creatively showcased crucial aspects of dryland farming such as soil moisture conservation, crop selection, mulching, rainwater harvesting, and organic composting. By combining folk art with educational messaging, the program effectively captured the attention of the rural audience, simplifying technical knowledge into relatable storytelling.
The event not only entertained but also enlightened farmers about climate-resilient strategies they can adopt to enhance productivity on low-water lands. Community members appreciated the unique approach and expressed interest in implementing the techniques in their own fields.
This initiative reaffirmed BGVK’s commitment to empowering farmers through knowledge and cultural outreach, contributing to a more sustainable and self-reliant rural economy. The villagers were very grateful to TPCDT for this initiative.
