Ahilyanagar District 2025
Introduction
Under the Project for Migrant Community (supported by Salesian Mission), BGVK organized a health camp in Nepti, catering to 76 migrant laborers and their families. This initiative addressed the unique challenges faced by transient populations in accessing healthcare.
Event Details
Dr. Pravin Gaikwad and lab technician Pramod Kamble led the camp, offering:
Critical Diagnostics: HB, blood sugar, and blood pressure tests to identify chronic conditions.
Awareness Workshops: Focused on sanitation, nutrition, and preventing infectious diseases like dengue and tuberculosis.
Referral Services: Severe cases were linked to nearby hospitals for advanced care.
Impact and Importance
The camp detected hypertension in 12 adults and anemia in 23 individuals, enabling early treatment. Migrant workers gained actionable insights to protect their health in harsh working conditions.
Community Feedback
A construction worker remarked, “We often ignore our health due to work pressures. This camp reminded us that our well-being matters.”
Future Steps
BGVK will advocate for mobile health units to reach migrant communities more frequently.
