Ahilyanagar – May 2025 - Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), with the support of Tata Power Community Development Trust (TPCDT), successfully carried out desilting work at multiple project sites such as Akkalkot, Nashik, Partur, Tuljapur and Dharashiv. This initiative was implemented as part of ongoing efforts to promote sustainable water management and environmental conservation in rural areas.
Desilting, a crucial intervention in watershed development, involves the removal of accumulated silt and debris from water bodies such as ponds, check dams, and reservoirs. By executing this work, BGVK aimed to increase the groundwater table, enhance the storage capacity of these water structures, and improve the overall water availability for agriculture and domestic use in the region.
Moreover, this activity plays a significant role in preventing soil erosion, preserving soil fertility, and maintaining the ecological balance of the surrounding land. The intervention not only benefits the immediate environment but also contributes to the long-term resilience of local farming communities by ensuring better water retention during dry spells.
Through such sustainable interventions, BGVK and TPCDT continue to empower rural communities and safeguard natural resources for future generations.
