156 Women’s Day Celebration with SHG Women from Ahmednagar and Beed District

Ahmednagar, May 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized a Women’s Day celebration with Self-Help Group (SHG) women from Ahmednagar and Beed districts. The event saw the participation of 612 women and was funded by Manos Unidas, Spain.

Mr. Sandip Berad, a staff member of BGVK, welcomed all participants to the program. Mr. Tushar from Soilsens, Pune, emphasized on the importance of soil testing for farming and discussed low-budget farming techniques. He encouraged all participants to test their farm soils and observe the benefits. The main guest, Mrs. Mahananda Landage, provided guidance on organic and modern farming practices. She advised planting horticulture trees and using mobile technology for agriculture. Mrs. Landage also shared information about various government schemes related to housing, sanitation, and agriculture.

Fr. George, Director of BGVK, spoke about women empowerment, highlighting the significance of self-reliance and community support.

Following the formal program, a cultural segment featuring a Kala Pathak performance and a magic show entertained the attendees. The primary objective of the Kala Pathak programme was to raise awareness about women's health, sanitation, nutrition, personal well-being and various government schemes. After a delicious lunch, the cultural program continued, enhancing the sense of community and celebration.

Mrs. Chaya Chandne anchored the event, while Mr. Berad expressed gratitude to all participants for their active involvement. The participants expressed their appreciation to BGVK and Manos Unidas for organizing the event and supporting their empowerment initiatives.
