276 PDMDS session at Takali in Ahmednagar district
Ahmednagar- September 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), Ahmednagar, in collaboration with the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS), conducted an awareness and interactive session for senior citizens at Takali in Ahmednagar district. This initiative was part of the 'Healthy Ageing' project, supported by PDMDS.
Healthy aging involves the process of growing older in a way that promotes physical, mental, and social well-being, allowing individuals to lead active, independent, and fulfilling lives. The primary goal of this workshop was to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and neurological disorders, with the aim of improving the quality of life, independence, and overall health of older adults. The program addressed a range of factors, including physical fitness, nutrition, cognitive health, social engagement, and preventive healthcare.
Mrs. Chaya Chandane warmly welcomed the participants and explained the purpose of the program. Following this, Mrs. Bhavana Ghatvisave, a BGVK staff member, led an orientation on various topics such as Art Therapy, Yoga, Physiotherapy, Counselling, Dance Therapy, Speech Therapy, Food and Nutrition, and related health issues. The interactive nature of the session encouraged participants to ask questions, which Mrs. Bhavana skilfully addressed. Many participants expressed their appreciation for BGVK's initiative and requested regular monthly sessions.
This collaborative effort between BGVK and PDMDS not only provided valuable information about Parkinson’s disease and neurological conditions but also served as a platform for interactive learning, contributing to the overall objective of promoting healthy aging within the community.
