Ahmednagar 2024: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) Ahmednagar, in collaboration with the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society (PDMDS), conducted an awareness and interactive session for senior citizens at Hadola Wasti, Mehekari, in Ahmednagar district. This initiative fell under the umbrella of the 'Healthy Ageing' project, supported by the Parkinson’s Disease and Movement Disorder Society.

The concept of healthy aging involves the aging process in a manner that fosters physical, mental, and social well-being, enabling individuals to lead active, independent, and fulfilling lives as they grow older.

The primary objective of this workshop was to raise awareness about Parkinson’s disease and neurological disorders, with the aim of enhancing the quality of life, independence, and overall health of older adults. The Healthy Aging program addresses a spectrum of factors, encompassing physical fitness, nutrition, cognitive health, social engagement, and preventive healthcare measures.

Mrs. Archana Kanade extended a warm welcome to the participants, elucidating the purpose of the program. Subsequently, Mrs. Bhavana Ghatvisave, a staff member of BGVK, conducted an orientation for the beneficiaries on various topics such as Art therapy, Yoga, Physiotherapy, Counselling, Dance Therapy, Speech Therapy, Food and Nutrition, and associated health issues. The interactive nature of the session prompted numerous participants to pose questions, all of which were adeptly addressed by Mrs. Bhavana. The participants expressed their appreciation for BGVK's initiative and expressed a desire for regular monthly sessions.

This collaborative effort between BGVK and PDMDS not only disseminated valuable information about Parkinson’s and neurological diseases but also served as a platform for interactive learning and engagement, aligning with the overarching goal of promoting healthy aging within the community.
