Ahilyanagar (August 2025) – Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized 6 Reproductive health session for adolescent girls in Phaltan Block in Satara district. This session was part of the Rural Health & Nutrition' project supported by Cummins India. A total of 210 adolescent girls participated.
The coordinator, Mr. Vilas Alhat, welcomed the participants and the resource person, Mrs. Alka Pol. The main objective was to educate adolescent girls about personal health, hygiene, menstrual cycles, diet, and nutrition.
Mrs. Alka Pol spoke about physical and psychological changes during adolescence. She explained reproductive health risks, contraceptives, and sexually transmitted diseases. Important topics like sexual abuse and substance abuse were also covered.
After the session, the girls asked their questions, which were answered by Mrs. Alka Pol. The program concluded with snacks being served. This health awareness program aimed to empower adolescent girls in Satara districts with crucial knowledge. By understanding their bodies and health needs better, these adolescents can make informed choices.
BGVK's initiative aligns with their mission of holistic empowerment for women. More such educational sessions are planned to benefit adolescent girls across Satara's rural areas.
