Ahmednagar – 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) organized a comprehensive training program on Self Help Groups (SHGs) and Organic Farming at WDF Mathani – Balewadi village. This initiative is a part of the WDF project, supported by NABARD and Tata Power Community Development Trust.
The training aimed to build the capacity of rural women and farmers by empowering them with knowledge about financial self-reliance and sustainable agriculture practices. The session on SHGs focused on group formation, savings mechanisms, internal lending, record keeping, and the importance of collective strength for social and economic development. In the organic farming segment, participants were introduced to eco-friendly agricultural techniques such as composting, vermicomposting, preparation and use of natural fertilizers and pesticides like Jeevamrut and Dashparni Ark. The resource persons also highlighted the benefits of organic produce on health, soil fertility, and market value. The training was interactive, with live demonstrations and success stories shared by experienced farmers. Participants expressed enthusiasm and a willingness to adopt the methods discussed, and the program concluded with a commitment to further support the groups through regular follow-up and field guidance.
