074 Caritas India hosts Volunesia 2023 at Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra Kedgaon
Ahmednagar, January 2024 - Caritas India recently hosted the Volunesia 2023 program at the Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra in Kedgaon, Ahmednagar. This event was designed to celebrate and recognize the tireless efforts of volunteers who dedicate their time and energy to serving their communities.
The day began with the registration of 48 participants, followed by an invocation and a warm welcome by Fr. George D'Abreo, the director of Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra.
The ceremony continued with the lighting of the lamp by the guest of honor, setting the stage for a day filled with inspiration and knowledge-sharing. An ice-breaking game led by Mr. Sachin and Ms. Melnita Peraira helped the participants introduce themselves and build connections.
The first session was conducted by Mr. Sachin Wagh from the Centre for Social Action (CSA), who emphasized the crucial role of volunteers in social life, the importance of rapport building, and the value of trust and collaboration. This was followed by a session led by Sister Annie from the Aurangabad Diocese Social Service (ADSS), who spoke about the essential qualities of a volunteer, including faithfulness, leadership, trustworthiness, resilience, selflessness, and courage.
Mr. Rushikesh Kute from the Poona Diocese Social Service (PDSS) then took the stage, explaining how volunteers can motivate people to take responsibility in the development process. He underscored the importance of volunteers dedicating their time and embracing a revolutionary mindset.
The afternoon session featured a reflection by Mr. Melvin Pangya, the state coordinator, who shared his experiences from a recent trip to Germany, where he had gone to collect funds. This was followed by an insightful interview session led by Mr. Kisan Dhangada from Janhit Trust, Vasai, where the women volunteers shared their experiences and the support they received from their families.
The highlight of the day was the distribution of awards and certificates to the selected volunteers, recognizing their invaluable contributions to the social sector. The event left the participants feeling loved, accepted, and appreciated, instilling a renewed sense of purpose and commitment to their noble cause.
