Ahmednagar- 2025: Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK) distributed advanced irrigational systems for the farmers in the Mathani – Balewadi Village of Ahmednagar District. This initiative is a part of the WDF project, supported by NABARD and Tata Power Community Development Trust.
Advanced irrigation systems play a crucial role in sustainable agriculture by ensuring optimal water usage and improving crop productivity. Technologies like drip irrigation and sprinkler systems are widely recognized for their efficiency in saving water. In drip irrigation, water is delivered directly to the root zone of each plant through a network of pipes and emitters, minimizing evaporation and runoff. Similarly, sprinkler irrigation mimics rainfall and distributes water uniformly over the field, making it suitable for various crops. These systems can reduce water usage by up to 30-50% compared to traditional flood irrigation methods. Additionally, integrating automatic timers, soil moisture sensors, and climate-based controllers can further optimize irrigation schedules based on crop needs and weather conditions. The use of such systems not only conserves water but also reduces labor, enhances soil health, and improves yield quality, making them a valuable tool for farmers in water-scarce regions.
The farmers were thankful to the TPCDT & BGVK for their support.
