Bosco Gramin Vikas Kendra (BGVK), with generous support from the Atos Prayas Foundation, implemented a WASH awareness initiative across five villages—Walunj, Darewadi, Shiradhon, Dahigaon, and Watephal. The multi-village program aimed to strengthen hygiene and sanitation practices across neighboring communities for a lasting regional impact.
The awareness activities addressed key issues such as groundwater contamination, lack of sanitation facilities, and unsafe food and water practices. Villagers learned practical methods to build and maintain household toilets using local materials, ensure clean water storage, and promote menstrual hygiene management aligned with local customs.
To sustain progress, village-level WASH committees were established to manage sanitation facilities, monitor water sources, and promote ongoing hygiene education. BGVK’s monitoring efforts showed that the initiative led to visible behavior changes, healthier surroundings, and renewed community ownership of hygiene practices across all five villages.
